UCI has chosen Nikishna Numkina Polequaptewa,
an accomplished UCI alumnus, to serve as Director of the American
Indian Resource Program. Nikishna is a member of the Hopi Tribe
in northeastern Arizona. He belongs to the Badger and Spider
clans and is an active member of the American Indian community.
Nikishna was a high school participant in UCI’s American
Indian Summer Institute in Computer Science summer residential
program in 1999. Since then, he has graduated from Sherman Indian
High School; earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University
of California, Irvine; and went on to obtain a Master of Science
degree from Central Washington University.
