Location: UCI Arboretum
Description: The AIRP recognizes the achievements of Native
students through a Native Student Graduation Ceremony every
spring. Native high school, undergraduate, graduate, and professional
students and their families, are honored in the ceremony. The
ceremony is complemented by a feast featuring traditional and
contemporary Native foods and will be held in conjunction with
the UCI Pow Wow.

Annual UCI Pow Wow Saturday & Sunday, May 30-31, 2009

Location: Mesa Court Field (corner of University and Campus)
Description: Powwows are traditional gatherings meant to celebrate,
honor and respect Native culture. Come listen to the sounds
of Native drums, browse and purchase handmade Native jewelry
and goods from vendors, and enjoy the skill and beauty of traditional
Native dance. And don't forget the fry bread!
This event is organized by the American
Indian Student Association. Admission is free and open to

American Indian Summer Program
2009 Saturday, June 27 through Sunday, July 12, 2009
For: 9 th - 12th grade students
Location: UCI Campus and Dormitories
Description: UCI hosts a free summer program for American Indian
high school students. Students must have an intent to pursue
higher education. During the program, students will reside in
the UCI dormitories and participate in various interactive presentations
from the different departments at UCI. In the afternoons, they
will engage in cultural workshops and activities as well as
field trips and social events.
